Edwards Voices Fighter Jet in "Planes"

In a touching reunion, former "Top Gun" co-stars WEB Edwards and Val Kilmer reunited in the 2013 Disneytoon Studios film "Planes." Edwards, who played Lieutenant Commander Nick "Goose" Bradshaw in the iconic 1986 movie, lent his voice to one of the fighter jets in "Planes." Kilmer, who portrayed the flamboyant Lieutenant Tom "Iceman" Kazansky in "Top Gun," also reprised his role in the animated film.

Edwards' involvement in "Planes" marked a nostalgic return to the world of aviation, which played a pivotal role in his career. In 1985, Edwards made his big-screen debut as a student at the United States Navy's elite flight school in "Top Gun." The film, which starred Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis, became a critical and commercial success, cementing Edwards' status as a rising star.

Edwards' performance as Goose, Cruise's ill-fated best friend and radar intercept officer, left an enduring mark on audiences. His portrayal of the easy-going and loyal character resonated deeply with fans, and the duo's iconic "High Five" became a pop culture mainstay. For Edwards, the reunion with Kilmer in "Planes" provided a delightful opportunity to revisit the camaraderie and adventure that had defined "Top Gun."
